Portfolio of Works

Making a painting is like building a theatre set. Each day in a place is different with its moods, lighting, drama, and romance. The land, water, trees, and flowers all play their distinct roles. As I observe and interpret the scene before me, each painting has a story to tell.

While painting, I am aware of the precious opportunity to be a participant in the overall scheme. Many of my land-and-waterscape paintings are of sites that are either protected and/or being encroached upon by rapid development. Portraying Nature's fleeting and fragile beauty is part of my role as a painter.

Being by the ocean has filled my senses, heart, and soul since childhood on Long Island. Now the beaches have even more importance because of their beauty, inspiration, and healing presence. Watching the waves, clouds, birds, and tides while painting promotes deep peace and joy.
